León is a city located in the nortwest of the Iberian
peninsula in the autonomous Community of Castilla y León.
In the historical center we can find some of the most
spectacular monuments of all Spain. One of its main symbols is its cathedral.
The cathedral has one of the best stained glass in Europe, giving different light tones according to the
moment of the day.
In the historical center we also can find 3 squares: the
main square, the square of the pidgeons and the square of the Grain. All of
them attract many pilgrims all the year in spite of the cold that usually does
in the city.
In front of the square of the Pidgeons is located the palace
of Botines, which was designed by the famous architect Antonio Gaudí. Also in
the historical center there are several restaurants, puibs and cafes where you
can eat the famous León’s ‘tapas’, which is some food that restaurants gives
with the drink you have ordered.
Other interesting constructions are the parador of León and
the romanic colegiata of León. In addition, the Colegiata has some Romanian
frescoes, which are called the Romanian Sistine Chapel.
In León, there are two famous roundabouts, the square of
Guzmán and the square of Santo Domingo, which are near Papalaguinda and the
Countness, places near the river where you can give long walks.
And if you like football, the local team ‘Cultural Leonesa’,
has risen this year of división and it’s near the main división of the Spanish
Football League.
